Sustainable fashion at Dressup Market

Can you believe that second to oil, the clothing and textile industry is the largest polluter in the world? I know, shocking. And as we become more and more aware of the impact of the textile industry on our environment, our shopping habits are changing and shifting, for the better. Don’t worry, this article isn’t a guilt pushing incentive to make you feel bad about your shopping habits but rather gives you an alternative method of shopping that will benefit your wardrobe and the planet. It’s a win-win.

So we’re all well aware of the influence textiles and fast fashion has on the environment. With every cheap and trendy purchase, our guilty conscience seeps in and suddenly we are flooded with those frightful images of our plastic-filled oceans and frail polar bears. Nowadays we’re like addicts to the latest and current trends, the more they change the more we want and let’s face it, who doesn’t love the quick fix of fast fashion. One minute it’s on the catwalk, next it’s in your wardrobe. Wala.

I’m definitely guilty of contributing to the ‘fast fashion’ industry however my latest discovery is something that is guilt-free, very practical and often very exciting because who knows what’s going to come in next! It’s an online company called Dress Up market and it’s my latest obsession!

Dress Up Market embodies that beautiful balance between the old and the new. It’s a shopping destination as well as a community of stylish sellers, who care about the impact that fast fashion has on our environment without negotiating style. Not only are we obsessed with their circular lifestyle mission but also the sophisticated, stylish and stunning items they offer. At dress market, they propose a beautiful blend of new and preloved items. Here you can sell, buy and trade pre-owned items as well as the opportunity to purchase new items. Basically, you can shop stylish clothing and accessories guilt-free, without negatively affecting the environment.

The majority of their pieces still contain tags and are in like new condition. Their stock of clothing and accessories range from Prada (their most coveted piece a Limited Edition Prada blouse from Triona McCarthy) to Penney’s, offering something for everyone. So, whether you’re in the mood to splash out on a timeless designer item or get that all-important bargain, dress up market might just have it. Their best sellers vary from comfy casuals and work wear items to chic dresses and accessories. Their luxury limited edition pieces and timeless vintage items are big hits as well. I was lucky enough to bag a limited edition Moschino crossbody bag for a steal! It still had the tags on it, the authenticity card inside and the dust bag. At the moment there’s a LV wallet, Chanel sunnies for 65 euro and this sparkling number from Maje for only 85 euro! Grab a bargain quick.

Maje dress for sale at the moment for only 85 euro.

So perhaps it’s time to find that balance between shopping new and old, guilt-free. Oh and by the way, Dress Up Market are doing a pop up shop in July in Gorey, Wexford. Check out their website for all the details.

This is not an ad by the way, just a discovery that I thought I’d share!

Happy sustainable shopping!
